Mirrung - Autism Support Unit
In 2023 we started Mirrung, (a Dharug word for belonging) a three class support unit for students with Autism. Currently we have a Kinder AU class, a 1-6 AU class and a 1-6 AU/Mild intellectual disability class (opening 2024) for students identified as Autistic and requiring a small class and additional support to meet their extensive academic and social needs. Each class has one teacher and an SLSO (School Learning and Support Officer) working in the classroom. In 2024 we expect that class numbers will increase to 7 (max) in each room. Mirrung is a beautiful addition to Chipping Norton PS and where possible, students are integrated with the school community to participate in activities and events.
